The brand new Bangor University Language Society has become yet another way for language students at Bangor University to become familiar with foreign cultures and languages, as well as engaging with each other and getting involved with the community. Last September, during Serendipity, the event where all clubs and societies run by and created for university students promote themselves and try to attract new members for their organizations, the LangSoc got no less than 100 signatures of students interested in becoming members of the group. Routes into Languages postcards were given away in the stand, prompting those who visited the stand to use a foreign language with their friends and companions as they were leaving. By the end of that week, the high level of interest in the LangSoc was celebrated at the School of Modern Languages, where the society prepared an international food evening, where those interested found a chance to chat and share common interests in an informal (and tasty!) environment.
