Spelling Bee 2023-24

National Spelling Bee Competition 2023-24

The Spelling Bee competition is designed to support learners in year 7 and 8 who are studying French, German, Spanish or Welsh as a second language in Wales. Learners from bilingual or English medium schools are permitted to compete
in Welsh as a second Language category.

The competition enables learners to improve their spelling and vocabulary, encourages correct pronunciation and most importantly raises confidence levels. Different to a monolingual Spelling Bee, learners in Wales have the option of receiving words in Welsh or English.

The competition consists of 4 stages or rounds with the number of words increasing with each round. The competition should be launched in your school in the autumn term and
finish in the summer term. This year all rounds will be held in schools.

If you’d like for your school to take part in the competition this year, please complete the registration form below by the end of the autumn term to receive prizes for the winners at the end of the academic year.
