The North Wales Spelling Bee Regional Final took place at Ysgol John Bright on Thursday, 5th May 2011. Year 7 pupils from all over the region came together to compete in French, Spanish and German hoping to win a place in the National Final.

Having witnessed a very high standard the previous evening at the South Wales Regional Final, the Routes Cymru team were confident that the North Wales region would be just as good. We were not disappointed and all pupils who competed demonstrated an excellent standard of spelling in another language. The pupils had obviously been practicing and wowed us all with their speed and accuracy.

Pupils from Ysgol Bryn Elian, Ysgol Maes Garmon, Ysgol David Hughes, Ysgol Tryfan, Ysgol John Bright and Ysgol Botwnnog were competing and we saw 15 competitors for French, 6 for German and 2 for Spanish.
John Bright hosted this event and Mez Peyrasse kindly presented the prizes at the end of the evening.
There was a definite ‘buzz’ at this event and the winning pupils were eager to receive their final 50 words and were obviously already excited about the thought of travelling down to the National Final to represent not only their school, but also the North Wales region.
