Host a Teacher from Germany

Provide your pupils with a unique perspective into a different culture by hosting a teacher from Germany for two or three weeks, at no cost to you. It’s a great professional development opportunity – teachers can share ideas for future lessons or even joint projects! Schools do not need to be teaching German to apply and visits can take place from late autumn 2015 until the end of the summer term 2016. Deadline: 18 September. http://www.ukgermanconnection.org/hostateacher

FLA Ambassadors network

If you have a language assistant from Germany in your school this year, encourage them to apply to be an FLA Ambassador. They can run a project of their choice in school to enthuse and interest pupils in the German culture and language, and through a small project fund UK-German Connection offer financial support for projects. Deadline: 19 October. www.ukgermanconnection.org/flaambassadors

Funding for UK-German activities

The next round is open for funding applications for UK-German partnership activities. UK-German Connection offer grants for joint projects with your German partner school, anniversary celebrations and preliminary visits for teachers. Deadline: 31 October. http://www.ukgermanconnection.org/funding

UK-German Bears Project

An exciting way for UK primary school children to join up with a German primary school for a short-term project and learn about the other language and culture. The bears come with resources and materials. New dates available for autumn 2015. www.ukgermanconnection.org/bears
