Bonjour tout le monde et bienvenue à mon blog ! J’espère que vous aimerez mon contenu (content) et aussi que vous apprenez un petit plus de la culture et la langue française. Vu que (considering that) c’est mon premier post, je vais me présenter ! Je m’appelle Monisah et je suis une étudiante (a student) du français et de l’histoire à l’université de Cardiff. En ce moment, c’est mon année a l’étranger (year abroad) et je fais un stage (work experience) dans les écoles primaires à Mâcon- une petite ville environ (approximately) 30 minutes de Lyon. Ce mois mon thème pour ce blog est “being a young person in french speaking society” donc je pense c’est une opportunité parfaite de parler de mes aventures mais aussi ma vie quotidienne (everyday life) en France !
On your year abroad, you have the choice of studying at a university or working. I decided to choose work experience because I thought it might be a good way to experience the world of work and maybe even help me with future career paths. It was a really scary decision for me because with my work placement I wasn’t able to choose where I was placed. When I was first given my location, I was extremely nervous because I had never even heard of Macon before. I remember searching for Macon on Google trying to get any sort of glimpse of what lies ahead of me. However, it only took me a couple of days to settle in and honestly, I had nothing to worry about! I have been living and working in Macon since September, so it feels like home to me now. One of the things I love most about Macon is the location. It is close to the Swiss and German borders and also not too far from the Italian border. It is also quite central in France which makes it easy to travel within the country. As someone who loves travelling, this is perfect for me!
J’ai visité plusieurs grandes villes proches de Mâcon y compris (including) Lyon, Grenoble, Dijon et Strasbourg. L’un de mon séjour préféré était mon voyage à Strasbourg pendant les marchés de Noël. Il a neigé pendant mon séjour et la ville a ressemblé une boule à neige (a snow globe) ! C’était magnifique ! Si vous avez la chance, je recommande Strasbourg, surtout pendant Noël. Les marchés de Noël sont parfaits pour acheter les cadeaux pour votre famille et vos amis. Je pense que j’ai la chance (I’m lucky) de passer mon année en France car elle est un pays avec beaucoup de paysages différents. Avec les Alpes, les plages de le Sud de la France et beaucoup de grandes villes avec leur propre charme, c’est un pays parfait pour explorer !
A Mâcon, j’habite dans un lycée (a college) avec les autres assistants des langues. J’habite avec huit autres jeunes (young people) et en total on représente neuf pays (Le Grande Bretagne, La France, L’Italie, Le Venezuela, L’Allemagne, La Chine, Le Portugal, L’Espagne et Les Etas Unis… phewww !) J’adore mes colocataires (flatmates) et c’est vraiment cool d’habiter avec beaucoup de nationalités et partager nos cultures. The best thing about living with my flatmates is that our common language is French! That means I get to practise French every single day with them and it has definitely made me more confident when speaking French. We are all learning together, which creates a really nice atmosphere to improve our linguistic skills! I count myself very lucky to have the opportunity to make friends with people from all around the world. It really is a once in a life time experience!
